My Two Cents on Tiger

You've probably seen the photos of Tiger Woods' (alleged?) mistress, Rachel Uchitel. I say alleged, because some speculate that she wasn't his mistress at all, but his madame! In the photos one usually sees of her, she looks like your typical Vegas vamp:

Anyway, I ran across another picture of her that intrigued me. It was a picture of her taken after 9/11 and she was one of the women searching for a lost loved one, her fiancee. Say what you will about her, but I have a lot of sympathy for her now. She looks so distraught. Imagine having to go through that. Many people did go through it, and were able to get through their loss with dignity and grace. Others chose other paths, like being a madame! Either way, I can't even begin to imagine what that experience might do to you. Sorry, but I think I'm going to give her a pass. Sympathy vote! How can you be mean to this face?:

Actually, to be honest, I kind of give all the women a pass. They were interchangeable. If it wasn't one of them, he would have easily found another woman. It's one thing for a woman to go in and try to steal someone's husband and wreck a home- that's being a home-wrecker, and I don't condone that. But if the man has already decided before he's even met the mistress that he's going to be a philanderer and do it with anything in a skirt, ALL fault lies with him. He decided to wreck the home, and the shame-blame should fall squarely on his shoulders.

  1. I agree with your position that the blame should fall primarily on Tiger. Yet, I still think that his alleged mistresses should be held accountable for their behavior. They were aware that he was married with children. Even though they are not responsible for the health and unity of his family, I still think that basic decency would preclude most from engaging in an adulterous affair. I am aware that many of his alleged mistresses engaged in these interactions with him for financial gain. It was simple bartering…..Sex/Anonymity for Money. We are all fallible.

What I always find disturbing is the intense joy many have over the humiliation of celebrities. Who among us would like every embarrassing detail of our sins exposed?

  2. I agree; I really don't hold anything against Tiger's lady friends. After all, it was he, not they, who made a commitment to his wife. Call me crazy, but if I were Elin, I think I MIGHT feel less offended knowing that he cheated with 14 women instead of one. If it had been with just one woman, I would have convinced myself that she had something I didn't and that they shared an emotional connection, and I would have developed a complex. But 14 women is just excessive and makes him look like a sex addict who would sleep with anyone. I think Tiger needs to spend some time on Dr. Drew's couch STAT.

  3. Granted, I haven't been through THAT or anything, really of that caliber. Nonetheless, I can't help but think her face seems a little dramatic. I understand FEELING like that, but most people don't look like that even when they are feeling like that. But then again, maybe it's my aspberger's talkin'. ;) haha. JK, I suppose she's just one of those people who really emote!

  4. Anonymous: I do understand the conventional wisdom on this, but I stand by my original assertion. Men like him are sex addicts, and if he hadn't found some hard partying girls to get it on with, he would have simply hired prostitutes. And would you really expect a prostitute to feel any guilt? Because she won't.

Kara: Exactly. You nailed it on the head. Paging Dr. Drew....! I'm with you... other than being more afraid of contracting AIDS from his dozens of women, it would be preferable to have my husband have a string of meaningless affairs. Then you definitely know it's just HIS mental disorder, and not due to the feminine wiles of some nymphet who trumps you in the bedroom. Plus, you totally get martyr sympathy from the judge when you divorce, and we all know what that means! A mansion on an island off of Stockholm.

Oh, Booga! You and your Aspberger's! I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on this one. I think this photo was taken by the AP or something. I imagine that she was being interviewed and asked about her missing boyfriend. I think perhaps the uncertainty would be overwhelming. And also, being on the spot where he might be dead, but not knowing for sure. Anyway, the way I imagine it, she started talking about him, and got choked up and started blubbering. It happens. I saw it a lot in interviews. The uncertainty and fear and sadness just hit you.
