R U ROTFL?

The Enforcer just sent me the following text (verbatim/ typos included... I'd hate to ruin the joke by correcting it!) out of nowhere:

"There were two muffins sitting in an oven.  One muffin turned to the other and said, 'Boy, it sure is getting hot in here.'  The other muffin to the first muffin, in shock, and said:  'Holy shit!  A talking muffin!'"

Oh, and he prefaced it by saying it's his favorite joke.  And he wants me to call him tonight.   To chat.  Again.  I'm summoning the energy to hear more red rocket jokes from Muffin Man/ The Enforcer...

Um, is it too late to cancel Friday's dinner?  Just shut up and be pretty honey, ok?

  1. Somehow The Enforcer was able to do the unimagineable and make me nostalgic for the good ol' days of red rocket talk. I fear that it's all downhill from here, my friend. Brace yourself for a long Friday night of knock-knock jokes (if you're lucky). I trust this restaurant serves alcohol?

  2. Ha ha, seriously, Kara. I'm starting to dread our date. I feel bad because I don't want to waste his money if I already know I'm not feeling him. But I want to give him a chance in case this is a fluke.

In any event, if I go, I'll have to arrive early to order a double!

  4. JTTW ("Jesus Take The Wheel").
Hopefully he knows that his joke was stupid and was being ironic.

  5. C'mon, it's funny and absurdist. He's trying to make you laugh!

  6. Booga: Jesus Take The Wheel, indeed! I HOPE he was being cheeky, because otherwise... just, no.

Avitable: I'm surprised at you! You're so witty and smart, I didn't think you would find this acceptable.

  7. It's funny because it's an unexpected punchline. It reminds me of an old George Carlin joke.

  8. I saw the end coming from a mile away. Well, about half-way into the joke anyway. It's been over-done. I've heard so many variations of that same joke, it's almost as played-out as knock-knock stuff. That's why it's cringe-worthy. Is anyone still surprised by that ending? I think maybe it was first funny twenty or so years ago, when Carlin first did it. Yeah, I see the humor in the joke, if it was novel and fresh. Yeah, twenty years ago that was funny. Most of Carlin's "stuff" has passed the test of time, but this joke didn't.
